The evaluations in the 2006 Norwegian Red List are based on guidelines from the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN). In the process of making the Red List 18 500 species have been evaluated. Of these 3886 have been included in the Red List. A total number of 1988 species is categorised as threatened.
